In 1010, Weilheim appears for the first time in a document, under the name Wilhain. Almost a thousand years later, in 1923, the first telephone exchange for long-distance direct dialing went into operation here. In between came the town wall and moat, parts of which still survive, and a great fire in 1810 that destroyed 120 houses.
“The old town combines shop, office and home under one roof.”
The old town around the Marienplatz and the Schmiedstraße is lined with buildings that combine shops, doctors’ offices and apartments. Above them rises the tower of the parish church Mariä Himmelfahrt. The Ammer flows through town, and on the Gögerl hill you’ll find quiet residential areas with homes from several decades.
The town of just over 23,000 residents also includes the parish villages of Marnbach and Unterhausen, the church village of Deutenhausen, the settlements of Lichtenau and Tankenrain and a number of isolated farmsteads and estates. By rail, Weilheim is a hub for Munich, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Augsburg. That makes the town attractive to commuters and keeps demand for apartments steady.
Real estate agent in Weilheim
Selling a house or an apartment is rarely just a transaction. Often a chapter of your life is tied up in it, sometimes an inheritance, sometimes a fresh start. We take the time to hear your story before we talk numbers.
We have been at home in the Bavarian Oberland since 1982, with our office in Oberammergau. We know Weilheim, its neighborhoods and the people who want to buy here. And we remain your contact until the keys have been handed over.
The real estate market in Weilheim
The rail connection to Munich makes Weilheim attractive to commuters. Three- and four-room apartments near the station and single-family homes in the residential areas are in demand. Old-town buildings with commercial space on the ground floor call for experience with mixed-use properties.
We reach commuters, families and investors, and we prepare property brochures (exposés) that are just as convincing in Munich as they are locally.
Our agents will visit and give you a free initial estimate.
What sellers in Weilheim ask us
How do I find the right asking price in Weilheim?
We compare current listings and completed sales in the region and inspect your property. This gives a price that can hold up on the market.
Do you also sell old town buildings with a shop?
Yes. We value the residential and commercial parts separately and reach buyers who are looking for exactly this kind of building.
What documents do I need to sell?
A land register extract (Grundbuchauszug), energy performance certificate, floor plans and, for apartments, the documents of the condominium owners’ association. We obtain anything that is missing for you.
