Wolfratshausen is first mentioned on July 30, 1003, as Wolueradeshusun. The town lies where the Loisach and the Isar come close to each other, and for a long time it lived from timber rafting. In 1848, some 5,800 rafts set off from here. In summer, rafts still float down the Isar today.

The old town between the Loisach and the wooded hillside is defined by the Marktstraße and the Untermarkt, above which stands the church of St. Andreas from 1484. Wolfratshausen has only held its town charter since 1961. The Waldram district grew up after World War II from a former munitions depot that became a settlement for displaced persons. There are also the village of Weidach, the church village of Nantwein and the Farchet residential area.
Around 19,500 people live in Wolfratshausen. The S7 commuter line ends here and reaches Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) in about 40 minutes. The largest employer is EagleBurgmann. No other town in our area is so closely tied to the Munich market.
